Notes:	This article is part of a series of related articles in a special edition of the Aggression and Violent Behavior journal, ‘Current Controversies on the Role of Gender in Partner Violence’. This article examines research and arguments for and against offering conjoint therapy for couples experiencing intimate partner violence. The authors propose that in certain circumstances couples therapy may be appropriate and outline clinical guidelines for these cases. The authors also briefly address implications for policy and research.
