This book chapter discusses the role of good supervision for social workers who are running therapeutic groups for infants and mothers affected by family violence, as well as groups for perpetrators of family violence. Issues raised include the gender roles facilitators adopt, anxiety of facilitators mirroring anxiety of group members and working with vulnerable families. The article concludes that supervision provides an important space for group work facilitators to reflect on their work and to understand themselves as part of, rather than separate to, the group process.en
