dc.description.notes | This final chapter revisits some of the questions and theoretical disputes raised throughout the book, highlighting the need for an approach to lesbian relationship violence that encompasses both the structural sources of oppression and the manner in which patterns of domination are internalised. The diversity of experiences amongst women who are homosexual or bisexual and the ways in which other dimensions of inequality, such as race and poverty, can intersect and further impact upon the difficulties faced by victims of violence are also discussed from a US perspective. The chapter concludes by summarising the key themes emerging from the research project, including the need for further education in the community and amongst service providers, the development of safety strategies and resources and the need for acknowledgement of lesbian sexual violence both within and outside gay communities. | en |
