This fact sheet is developed for maternal and child health nurses working with women and children living with domestic violence. It is based on the knowledge garnered from the Partnerships Against Domestic Violence (PADV) initiative. It outlines the findings in relation to the impact of domestic violence on children, and the incidence of domestic violence and barriers to intervention. It summarises what maternal and child health services can do, such as understanding the high-risk times and referring women to specialist domestic violence service providers.
