"Partnerships Against Domestic Violence Summary Findings From Phase 1"
"For Professionals"
This fact sheet has been developed for magistrates and court staff dealing with people dealing with domestic violence. Based on Partnerships Against Domestic Violence (PADV) research, it summarises the impacts of and the incidence of domestic violence; and the response of the criminal justice system. It lists what magistrates and court staff can do, such as taking domestic violence seriously; providing easy access to the protection of the courts and the law; understanding the impact of words and decisions; giving priority to victims’ experience and safety in the proceedings; and taking part in the development of integrated responses.
