This printed fact sheet contains the essential information on the Victorian Community Council Against Violence (VCCAV) which may also be found on their website: www.vccav.vic.gov.au . VCCAV was established in 1989 in response to the Hoddle Street and Queen Street shootings and operates from within the Victorian Department of Justice as an advisory body to the government on issues relating to violence in the community. Its mandate is to work exclusively to challenge the culture of violence in our society. It conducts major public inquiries, produces community education materials, and serves as a link between the community and the government on issues of violence. Its scope covers violence against women, sexual assault, alcohol related violence, violence associated with licensed premises, victims of crime and violence among children and young people.en
