This information sheet reports on the development of nationally-endorsed competency standards for practitioners who come into contact with people who experience and perpetrate domestic violence. Creating competency standards is the second stage of a four-stage project supported by the Partnership Against Domestic Violence initiative. The aforementioned standards would provide criteria to assess a person’s competence, skills and work performance. Through interviews and workshops, representatives from ten occupational groups such as counsellors and Indigenous workers provide the data to identify the knowledge and aptitude required.en
