Notes:  Reports on an initiative funded to reduce the incidence of domestic violence through the identification of prevention strategies. Evaluates the most successful methods used in domestic violence prevention workshops with young people aged 12-25 years conducted across Australia by eight organisations. The workshops targeted two groups of participants; young people in the mainstream of society and young people identified as ‘at risk’.
The evaluation had two foci: the impact of the workshops on participants and the organisational contexts in which these programmes were located. It found that preventive programmes with young people can have an impact on their knowledge, skills and attitudes. The organisational context was found to crucial to successful programmes.
