Notes:  This paper by the Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault (ACSSA) examines how sexual assault services function in the non-metropolitan areas of Australia. It is the result of ACSSA’s consultation with six such services in diverse localities of regional, rural and remote Australia. Findings show that services need to take into account the various aspects of the local environment; these include:
Local solutions to barriers to accessing sexual assault services in rural, regional and remote communities are discussed and include; integrating the service into the local community; community collaboration; and interagency collaboration.
