Notes:  This article presents the findings of a US study that used a national data set to examine the relationship between gambling and intimate partner violence and child maltreatment. The findings indicated that problem and pathological gambling were significantly associated with both perpetration and victimisation of intimate partner violence, as well as perpetration of child abuse. Additionally, these relationships became non-significant when lifetime mental disorders were considered in the analysis.
