Notes:	This article reports on the findings from a study of sixty-nine men who participated in either a coordinated substance abuse and domestic violence (SADV) treatment program or a Twelve Step Facilitation (TSF) program to address their alcohol dependence and perpetration of domestic violence. The authors examined the effectiveness of the two programs and whether outcomes were different for men who were fathers. The findings indicate that non-fathers who participated in the SADV program were less likely to use alcohol or perpetrate violence than non-fathers in the TSF program. However, there was no difference in outcomes between the two programs among fathers. Authors suggest development of specialised treatment programs for fathers which incorporate their parental role.
