Presents the methodology and results of a Norwegian study that explored the relationship between child sexual abuse, other adverse family/environmental factors, quality of adult intimate relationships and adult mental health in a group of female outpatients. The findings suggest that child sexual abuse is most often associated with a range of other family background risk factors, for example, death of biological parents, as well as a range of relationship and mental health problems in later life. Some implications of the study and directions for future research are suggested.en
