The tendency for proceedings in the Family Court to become adversarial in nature is recognised and an alternative model enabling the court to become part of the healing and growth process for families is proposed. The role of other agencies, such as the Legal Aid Commission and various non-government support/referral services, is outlined and the importance of the networks that have developed between these affiliated agencies through the work of the Columbus Project, is highlighted. Concludes that the Columbus Project has acted as a key catalyst for a series of positive developments in the Family Court system of Western Australia. | en |
