Examines some of the recent research conducted into violence against women with disabilities, highlighting some of the difficulties associated with collecting data and articulating precise definitions in this area. Argues that evidence collated thus far suggests women with disabilities are not only more vulnerable to domestic violence but that they experience it in more diverse ways. Provides a list of factors that make women with disabilities ‘targets’ of violence and advocates for legislative and policy initiatives to specifically address the needs of these women. Describes a recent project that did focus on victims of domestic violence with disabilities and the infrastructure needed for such initiatives to continue.
