Discusses the recruitment process, informed consent procedures and measures adopted in a series of focus groups and surveys aimed at identifying particular factors associated with greater levels of victimisation of street-based sex workers by their clients. Both work-related behaviours and personal/social factors were considered, such as location of the ‘date’, drug use and homelessness. Argues the findings lend support for the development of responses to prostitution that focus on harm minimisation, as opposed to criminalisation and enhancement of legal protections for sex workers. Recommendations for specific reforms are also made.en
