Notes: | It has been argued that the types of strategies utilised by battered women to deal with the threats and actual harm to their physical and emotional well-being influence their mental health. This study explores the connection between social support, problem-focused coping and mental health symptoms. Mainly African American women who were pursuing legal action at the U.S. District of Columbia Superior Court provided the information for the research. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and depression were associated with problem-focus coping only in women with either minor or inadequate social support. |
