Notes: | Presents the methodology and results of a US study aimed at describing the nature of domestic violence experienced by older women from a variety of racial/ethnic backgrounds, focusing on their relationship with the abuser, the nature of help sought and the resource/service needs of these abused elders. African American elders, Hispanic elders and other women of colour, many of whom suffered disabilities, were included in the study. Highlights the diversity of older women’s experiences of abuse and outlines some of the implications these findings have for service delivery and policy development. |
