Notes:	This article summarises a seminar in July 2005 held at Te Awatea in New Zealand. It addresses the question of whether women are as violent as men. It examines the differences between male and female partner violence in terms of the context, impact and meaning of the violence. It also argues for improving the coordination of social services, especially with regard to prioritising the safety and autonomy of women and holding perpetrators accountable. It suggests that there is no magic bullet with a particular intervention; instead, it is about collaborations and coordinating community interventions. Effective collaboration includes: a shared vision and analysis; willingness to challenge one another for continuous improvement; addressing inequalities of power between partners; a need to focus on case-specific arrangements; external monitoring to ensure consistency; careful sharing of information; resisting the pressure for competitive funding models for limited funding; time and money or funding; and the need for evaluations.
