Notes:  Discusses the findings of a recent report on research undertaken by the University of Sydney, suggesting reforms to the Family Law Act are not achieving their objectives. It is argued that a lack of clarity in guidelines for implementing the reforms, coupled with inadequate information being made available to the courts, has created an unnecessary increase in the number of contact disputes. Concerns about undue pressure being placed on non offending parents to consent to unsafe orders are raised and it is suggested that, together with recent funding cuts to Legal Aid, the reforms have only exacerbated existing problems
