Briefly describes the North Queensland ‘Dovetail’ programme, an integrated approach to domestic violence which draws on the Duluth Power and Control Model. Addresses a number of challenges in working with perpetrators to stop their violence and argues that the primary objective of any perpetrator programme must be ensuring the safety of women and children. Stresses the role of women’s services in contributing to the accountability and transparency of perpetrator programmes. Asserts that any programme that holds the man’s change process as first priority, and women’s safety as a by-product, must be challenged.en
