Outlines the methodology and results of a study aimed at investigating the relationship between young Australian women’s experiences of violence and certain reproductive events, such as unwanted or unplanned pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, child death and poor birth outcomes. An overview of research conducted internationally into violence against young women, pregnancy and health is provided and the findings suggest the association between pregnancy, pregnancy losses and births, and physical or sexual violence against young women is mirrored in the Australian context. Implications of the study for professionals in the health and family planning fields are identified.en
