Discusses the forum held by the Parent Aid Unit of the Royal Children’s Hospital and the DVRC in Brisbane which took the form of a debate centred around the question of whether mothers in domestic violence situations should be held accountable for the safety of their children. Opposing arguments were delivered but participants were in agreement that the perpetrator and not the victims of violence should be held accountable. It is further argued that the various social systems in place to protect children from violence have a responsibility to provide an integrated and non discriminatory response to the issue.
