Transcript from a paper presented at the ‘Exploring Violence: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender’ Forum, the article provides an overview of the framework and principles from which the Domestic Violence Resource Centre operates and advocates for increased recognition of violence within Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities. Argues that while the DVRC has an important role to play in ensuring the protection of human and civil rights for domestic violence victims, they are limited in their capacity to meet the needs of all interest and minority groups. Contends that the role of the DVRC should be to provide support and resources to groups lobbying for specific changes if service systems are to address the lived reality and diversity of women’s experiences.
