See also 'Surveying the statistics : sources and statistics on violence against women in the Wentworth region' in our Research & Resources database.<br/ >Summary of ‘Surveying the statistics on violence against women in the Wentworth region’, a report which uses the local government areas of the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Penrith in New South Wales as a case study, providing key stakeholders with a picture of the incidence of domestic violence in the area and the responses of relevant agencies. Data were collected from Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Schemes, Wentworth Area Health Service, NSW Department of Community Services, NSW Criminal Court Statistics, Bureau of Crime Statistics & Research and the NSW Police Service during the period 1997-2001. Issues raised include the standardisation of data collection methods, presentation of data, monitoring of the collection process and the lack of data collected from both non-English speaking women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.en
