A background to violence against women as a public health issue is provided and the CDC’s current strategic plan and research agenda outlined, along with some examples of activities engaged in by the DVP as part of this overall approach. The CDC’s success in the prevention of violence and injury is discussed and some recommendations for future policy and programmes are presented.en
