Provides an overview of the incidence of sexual assault and intimate partner violence in various regions of Canada and identifies several 'at risk' groups and gaps in existing research. The health consequences of domestic violence and abuse are explored and it is suggested that knowledge of prevalence rates and target groups can assist in planning health service delivery, crisis intervention and preventative services for women experiencing violence.
