This is a summary of the report "Grief, shame and pride : a study of the impact of family violence and the strengths of the Ceduna community to act against it" which may be found on our Research & Resources database.<br/ >Summarises a study developed and performed in the Aboriginal community of Ceduna. In 2001 Weena Mooga Gu Gudba Aboriginal women’s group commissioned the South Australian Centre for Rural and Remote Health (SACRRH) to investigate the issues surrounding family violence in their community. The research findings were grouped under the headings of understanding of family violence in the community; the causes of family violence in Ceduna; and suggestions to deal with the violence. Issues relating to material, health and emotional circumstances, dispossession, and family disruption are also included. An holistic model is proposed to respond to family violence.en
