dc.description.notesGeneral Overview: This brief Victorian article outlines the need for a public education campaign on the human rights of women, if society is to approach zero tolerance towards violence against women.<br/ >Objectives and Methods: The article summarises Associate Professor Otto’s work on the human rights framework developed internationally to address violence against women, as well as the various campaigns against domestic violence and against violence against women generally.<br/ >Discussion and Results: The article outlines themes of human rights and gendered violence to address issues of sexual harassment, sexual assault and domestic violence, including the role of educating players and club officials in relation to policy in the AFL industry and public education campaigns for the community. The following six basic principles underlying a human rights framework are supported:<br/ >Conclusions: The article concludes that violence against women inflicts huge costs on the victim, the business sector, as well as health costs to the community. It recommends a clear focus for public education campaigns (including in schools) on human rights, to live and work in a society free from violence.en
