| dc.description.notes | This article aims to integrate research on divorce/separation and victimisation, which have traditionally been conducted independently or separately. The integration of these 2 fields of research is important in clinical practice with women. This article provides reviews of international research on the consequences of: separation (psychological adjustment, economic changes, social support changes, health, mental health and substance use); separation when children are involved (financial resources, role strain, legal issues); victimisation (mental health problems, health issues, substance use, stress); as well as integration of the separation and victimisation research to look at separation in the context of victimisation (continuing violence and safety concerns, child safety concerns and custody issues, internal and external barriers); and discussion on the implications of separation in the context of victimisation for practice, policy and research. | en |
