Explores the commonalities between thirty attempted domestic homicide cases experienced by women in the United States. It was found that all but one of the offenders was male. The couples were married, (ex) cohabitating or (ex) dating. In 67 per cent of the cases, the survivor had either left the relationship or had expressed that she was going to leave. Most of the homicide attempts occurred in the victim’s home or in the home they shared. Information about the offender behaviour and survivor conditions in the year prior to the attempted homicide is provided. Accounts of the actual attack and the aftermath are also discussed.en
