Notes:	Discusses the ways that Western Australia’s first feminist refuge, Nardine Women’s Refuge, worked to place domestic violence on the Western Australian political agenda during the 1980s. Describes the circumstances of Nardine’s existence at this time and considers the ways that Nardine’s workers used their power to bring about change in the area of domestic violence through changes that have occurred since the 1980s. This article is part of a larger project that documents the history of Nardine and includes interviews with former workers and residents.
