| dc.description.notes | Family violence has been found to be a key risk factor for physical and mental health problems. It contributes to homelessness and poverty, impacts on employment and educational opportunities for women and children and has both immediate and long term detrimental effects (Statewide Steering Committee to Reduce Family Violence, 2005). While many agencies offer services related to family violence, often these are not developed within a collaborative framework or with reference to each other. This paper reports on the process of supporting a more integrative approach within a regional city with regard to services for women and children who had experienced or were experiencing family violence. Interviews with workers and managers in this integrated model of service delivery indicated that it is imperative that adequate resources be made available. Planning, supervision, debriefing and regular agency meetings are critical yet these are usually the areas that are trimmed to save money when budgets are constrained. This article explains how a number of community service organisations pooled their resources to deliver some integrated services for women and children whose lives are impacted on by family violence.<br/ ><br/ >[?2010 CASA Publications.
