| dc.description.notes | Presents the findings of research on women’s experiences of contact at supported and supervised contact centres in the UK, and some of the implications for them and their children. It is argued that such centres are inappropriate where domestic violence has occurred within the family. Women who attended the centres were concerned about levels of supervision, and felt that contact was used to prolong violence. Some of the mothers were required to assist their children, which generated encounters with their perpetrators. One third of the children who participated in the study expressed concerns or unhappiness.
