Notes:	This US article presents the findings from a study of 177 heterosexual couples who presented for couples therapy for distressed relationships. The authors examined how intimate partner violence and individual psychopathology affected therapy treatment outcomes. Results indicated that psychopathology had no affect on treatment outcomes. However, for couples presenting with mild male partner violence, treatment resulted in increased relationship satisfaction for both men and women. The authors discuss two hypotheses when examining the results.
