Notes:  Overview:This US study of 10,774 patients attending an inner city emergency room was conducted over the two year period from April 2006 to March 2008. A self-administered health survey was used to screen people for intimate partner violence (both victimization and perpetration) and substance use. It should be noted that one of the exclusion criteria of the study was pregnancy.
