This journal article discusses the findings of a research project conducted by the author aimed at assessing the administration of circuiting Bush Courts in regional Aboriginal communities of the Northern Territory and examining the impact of this mode of justice delivery on levels of domestic violence prosecution in these areas. Delays brought about by comparatively high caseloads heard by Bush Courts and the implications this has for the court process are discussed and it is concluded that the conduct of domestic violence cases is detrimentally affected by these administrative problems. Article suggests reforms to current Bush Court processes and the improvement of resources and legal services available to Indigenous victims of domestic violence in remote areas is needed if the safety of victims is to be enhanced.en
