This US article aims to challenge how we think about domestic violence by looking at how little attention has been given to cultural competence in domestic violence service provision from research through to evaluation, in the demographics context of large numbers of people of different races or ethnicities and diverse cultures. It examines knowledge development in domestic violence, related service provision and perceptions from a feminist framework. Issues or concepts such as faulty generalisations, circular reasoning, mystified concepts and partial knowledge are discussed, with recommendations on how to include culturally competent responses in domestic violence.en
