Discussion: The importance for physicians to consider the role and effects of domestic violence as a contributing factor in delaying treatment or medical compliance is discussed, including a review of the literature. Other studies have suggested the negative indirect impact of domestic violence on patient’s health, psychological and mental well-being.<br/ ><br/ >Results:After several years of declining treatment, the patient was questioned separately from her partner when she disclosed a long history of domestic violence.<br/ ><br/ >Conclusions:Physicians need to recognise the signs, ask the right questions, and make the referrals to help domestic violence victims receive the timely health care they need. | en |
