| dc.description.notes | This brief article is Matjasko et al’s response to Buzawa and Buzawa’s article ‘What does research suggest are the primary risk and protective factors for intimate partner violence (IPV) and what is the role of economic factors?’ Matjasko et al see economic factors as highly important in the prevention of situational couple violence, one of the three typologies of IPV whose characterization Matjasko et al support. They also see economic factors as a strategy to support victims escaping intimate terrorism, another of the typologies. Buzawa and Buzawa, however, feel that economic factors are less likely to play an effective role in controlling IPV.<br/ ><br/ >Matjasko et al are also less optimistic than Buzawa and Buzawa that a response strategy rather than prevention strategies will improve the extent of intimate partner violence. | en |
