Review of report released in 2002 by University of Sydney which evaluated four independent but related studies conducted by the Department of Social Work and Policy Studies at the University of Sydney and Barnardos Australia. The report scrutinised service providers’ knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and child protection, reviewed child protection strategies used by service providers, examined the needs of women and children who live with domestic violence and presented good practice guidelines for workers in the domestic violence and child protection sectors. Review highlights other conclusions of the report including the need for increased interagency collaboration and better training of service providers in the areas of domestic violence and concurrent child protection issues.en
