Notes:	Reports on research aimed at exploring methods that allow the collaboration of domestic violence and child protection practitioners to promote the safety of children, young people and women who experience domestic violence. The theories supporting practice and the consequent responses focus either on the mother’s or on the child’s safety and rights. In 2001, fourteen practitioners working in child protection and domestic violence services within New South Wales were interviewed to explore current strategies, their underpinning philosophies and their facilitating or obstructing factors. The impact and influence of the NSW Children and Young Persons Act 1998 and the response of NSW Department of Community Services are also considered. In particular, definitional understandings, mandatory reporting and the role of the Statutory Child Protection Authority are examined.
