Notes:  This journal article reports on a grounded theory study conducted in Australia with 7 women who had experienced intimate partner violence (IPV) and who had sought help from a primary healthcare facility or emergency department. Audio–taped interviews were used to investigate the women’s experiences of:
* the attitudes of healthcare providers e.g. victim-blaming, assignment of women’s mental health state as reason for women’s abuse;
* acknowledging the intimate partner violence they were experiencing and leaving the abusive relationship
