dc.description.notesAttempts to define individual- and systems-based advocacy for victims of domestic violence and highlight some of the ways in which ‘advocacy’ differs from direct practice with clients, before reviewing available research that has evaluated advocacy-based interventions with battered women. Some of the key characteristics of advocacy and/or community intervention projects across the United States are identified and the Michigan-based Community Advocacy Project is explored as an example of the effectiveness of such initiatives in reducing the risks of re-abuse and improving quality of life.en
