Outlines the findings and methodology of a US study that examined the incidence and nature of femicide and attempted femicide by a small group of women in same-sex relationships. An overview of statistics pertaining to male- and female-perpetrated femicide in the United States in provided and paucity of research in the latter area is highlighted. The results indicate similar behavioural and socio-cultural factors contribute to female-perpetrated femicide as those identified in the context of men who kill their intimate partners and implications of the study for future research, policy and practice in the health, social services and legal professions are discussed.en
