Care Sydney and Anglicare Sydney are two community-based organisations which manage a number of Family Relationship Centres (FRCs) in western Sydney where the population is both ethnically and socio-economically diverse. The two organisations see high numbers of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) clients and this led to their questioning of the adequacy of the family dispute resolution services (FDR) they provided. In conjunction with the University of Western Sydney, they initiated a research project which sought to determine whether FDR services were accessible to disadvantaged populations, how responsive FDR centres are and how FDR practitioners could be supported better to deliver culturally competent services. This article reports on the results of that project.en
