Describes the role of NSW Family Support Services (FSS) in assisting women and children who experience domestic violence. Over 150 FSS are available in urban and rural areas in New South Wales. The principles behind domestic violence work; the approach that support workers employ when aiding client families; and some of the services provided are examined. Former strategies and future initiatives are also discussed; in particular the court assistance work of the Sutherland Shire FSS.en
