Notes:	Discusses the current international trend of using an interagency or multiagency approach to deal with domestic violence. This involves various agencies working in a coordinated way to develop services and raise public awareness. Provides an overview of recent policy developments in the U.K adapted from other countries, promoting government and non-government organisations to work together. Findings of a study explored interagency initiatives which included the establishment of networking groups, development of good practice through training and undertaking educational and preventative work. Problems of implementing these initiatives include lack of resources and the need to obtain support from major statutory bodies, which may conflict with, or undermine, grass root services. Power differences can also impact on decision making. An overview of the women’s movement against domestic violence highlights the need to involve abused women and children when developing new initiatives to ensure their views are being heard.
