dc.description.notes | Evaluates the studies performed to assess the intervention programmes aimed to prevent intimate partner violence. The authors critically appraise twenty-two comparative studies that focus on interventions to which primary care clinicians could refer a patient. The target groups are women, perpetrators, and/or couples. The review includes a summary of each study, its strengths and weaknesses, and a quality rating. Studies that did not reach the selection criteria to be appraised are also mentioned. These studies evaluate the following types of interventions: screening; shelter stay; advocacy following shelter stay; batterer and couple interventions; and social interventions. Concludes that, while much is now known about the epidemiology of violence against women, there is little information available on evidence-based approaches in the primary care setting for preventing intimate partner abuse. | en |
