Notes:  This article documents the effect of intimate partner violence (IPV) on companion animals, concluding that animals are often severely affected by domestic violence within a family. The article contains the findings of telephone interviews conducted between professionals and 26 Australian females who have experienced domestic IPV. The article outlines different types of animal abuse inflicted on family pets, as well as data on the frequency of such abuse being reported to veterinarians.
