Notes:	This brief article looks at the Australian picture of intimate partner violence as it presents in a health setting. It summarises the morbidity experienced by women living with intimate partner violence (IPV); physical health outcomes, psychological outcomes and social consequences. It discusses the efficacy of screening for IPV in health care settings. It promotes the 2014 study to be conducted by the authors into ways to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed by nurses and midwives to treat patients experiencing IPV.
